HP ProCurve Manager Plus is a Microsoft Windows-based network management platform that enables mapping, configuration, and monitoring. HP ProCurve Manager Plus provides security and extensibility for small to large networks with remote sites. Network-wide management control allows users to securely add, customize, and restrict network management access. • Improved device monitoring: the Device Availability report can be used to track and document device and network availability over time or to troubleshoot problem devices; an Alert History graph displays a clear visual display of alerts on the network over time, enabling more proactive responses to network problems
Security
• Agent security with SSL: deploying agents in remote environments enables the agent to securely transverse firewalls via a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection to the HP PCM+ server; once the system is connected, traffic monitoring and event notification use the SSL tunnel to securely traverse the Internet to the destination IP address of the HP PCM+ server and agent
Traffic monitoring
• In-depth traffic analysis: an integrated traffic-monitoring interface shows detailed information on traffic throughout the network and delivers minute-by-minute views of the volume and content of traffic at specified points within the network; using enhanced traffic analysis protocols such as XRMON and sFlow, users can monitor input and output traffic levels by device (up to 10,000 polled ports per agent) in order to help network managers enhance network resources
Integration
• HP NNMi integration: Advanced HP Networking device management: can be integrated with HP NNM-i to provide advanced HP Networking device support alongside this industry-leading multivendor management platform, which now provides integrated support for most HP Networking devices. Distributed deployment: HP PCM+ and NNM-i run on separate management servers for increased performance and coordinate management data and actions via secure communications.
Policy management
• Policy creation and enforcement: HP PCM+ can create policies, set alerts, and take action to enforce network or device policies; network threats, bandwidth, or link problems can be mitigated by proactive policies and can be enforced with alerts and actions
Additional information
• Increased platform support: the HP PCM+ management server runs on the latest Windows platforms, including Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 (32-bit and 64-bit versions) and supports Windows 7 for the HP PCM+ client; HP PCM+ is also supported on virtual servers: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware ESX v4, and VMware ESX v3.5
